Eine Hure in der österreichischen Hauptstadt Wien hat sich auf besonders kreative Art ihrer Mitbewerberinnen entledigt. Ein Freund von ihr lief „Streife“ in ihrem Revier.

Mit einer Ordnungshüter-Mütze auf dem Kopf habe der Mann monatelang die Pässe anderer Damen kontrolliert, die in der gleichen Gegend auf Kundschaft warteten. Dann habe er sie mit barschen Worten fortgeschickt, berichtete der ORF am Mittwoch. Ziel der 40-jährigen Tischlers war es, seiner Freundin möglichst viele Freier zu bescheren.

Der vermeintliche Polizist verfolgte außerdem zahlreiche Freier und Prostituierte in eine Tiefgarage und klopfte dort im unpassendsten Moment an die Seitenfenster. Den geschockten Insassen erklärte er, was sie dort täten sei illegal und kassierte 50 bis 90 Euro Ordnungsgeld. Obwohl der Mann nur das Barett anhatte und anonsten Zivilkleidung trug, sei er scheinbar so selbstsicher aufgetreten, dass die in flagranti erwischten Freier umgehend zahlten.

Der Mann wurde jetzt zu einem Jahr Haft auf Bewährung verurteilt. Die Beziehung zu der Prostituierten hat er inzwischen beendet. Seine Ehefrau reichte dennoch die Scheidung ein.

VALLEJO, Calif. -- There are extra eyes on the streets of Vallejo now as two new hi-tech surveillance cameras became operational.

Vallejo Police Sergeant Jeff Bassett said the digital video from the cameras can be collected in real time by a hard-line, cellular, or data card connection.

The Linux-based system can record up to 180 days of video. Police can access the images via the internet, by typing in their user name and password.

The system also will allow any officer on patrol to view the video from their cruisers.

"He can go a short distance away -- a block or so -- be out of sight of the potential suspects or perpetrators, and then be viewing their actions from a couple blocks away remotely via this system," said Sgt. Bassett.

The system comes after budget cuts reduced Vallejo's police force and complaints from residents increased about prostitutes walking along Sonoma Boulevard.

"Our hopes are that not only will we catch some of this prostitution activity, but we may be able to catch some of the johns as they come and go," said Sgt. Bassett.

Each camera costs about $7,000. Local businessman Buck Kamhausen agreed to pay two-thirds of the cost..

"It seems like we're making a real positive step towards solving the problems [*lol*] of the shortfall of cash that our police department has," said Kamhausen.

The cameras can be moved to different locations as needed.

Some residents said they were worried about privacy, but police said the cameras will only be recording what's out in the open which anyone can see.
