Beachtliche Anfangserfolge für eine neue Partei:
Australian Sex Party picks up votes
* John Ferguson
* From: Herald Sun
* August 24, 2010 12:00AM
The Australian Sex Party had a strong election result.
THE Australian Sex Party has emerged as a potentially potent force in Victoria.
The party outpolled several more prominent minor parties and came within about 10,000 votes of Family First for the Senate in Victoria.
And in the Northern Territory, it managed to secure more than 5 per cent of the vote in one Senate position, qualifying for more than $3700 in taxpayer funds.
Once a party or candidate secures 4 per cent of first preferences, they are paid $2.31 for every vote they receive.
While the Sex Party gained 2.2 per cent of the Senate first preferences in Victoria, the DLP managed roughly the same. Despite this, the Victorian DLP has been vying for the last Senate spot.
The Sex Party secured a total of 54,744 first preference votes in the Senate in Victoria, compared with One Nation's 8,804 and the Australian Democrats on 11,774.
Sex Party candidate Fiona Patten said the support was encouraging and they would be back for the state election.
Sex Party policies include R and X ratings for computer games, an end to internet filters, a national sex education curriculum to prevent "the sexualisation of children", and sexual dysfunction drugs to be put on the PBS.

State plan 'to put sex workers on street'
KIM MACDONALD, The West Australian September 25, 2010,
The most comprehensive study ever conducted into WA [west Australia] prostitution has warned that the State Government's licensing plan would push sex workers on to the streets, threatening public health.
The study by the University of NSW said licensing had already failed in Victoria and Queensland, where up to 90 per cent of sex workers operated outside the official system.
Attorney-General Christian Porter announced in June that he would allow licensed brothels in non-residential areas and remove them from the suburbs.
The reforms - to be introduced later this year - would force prostitutes to register with a central body and have compulsory health checks. Also, sex workers may be forced to carry special ID cards.
The report said licensing was seen by governments as a means of controlling the number and location of brothels but it always generated an unlicensed underclass of workers who refused registration. "That underclass is wary of and avoids surveillance systems and public health services," said the report by the university's National Centre for in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research.
The report described licensing systems as "self-serving, expensive and exclusive" because they undermined health and safety by pushing sex workers out of brothels and on to the streets.
Prostitution is not illegal in WA, but certain related activities are, such as street prostitution, kerb crawling, the involvement of children in prostitution, coercing or inducing a person to be a prostitute, keeping premises for prostitution and living off the earnings of prostitution.
The report found that, apart from street offences, there was a relatively low rate of law enforcement in WA.
It found that a variation of the brothel containment policy, which was officially abolished in 2000, continued to apply and that police already maintained an unofficial register of all sex workers.
A survey in the report showed a snapshot of the average sex worker in WA, which revealed that 62 per cent have dependent children and 40 per cent have a partner.
A quarter have some tertiary education but nearly two thirds left in high school.
Sex workers do 31 hours a week on average,
89 per cent have regular health check-ups,
77 per cent believe police to be friendly and supportive, and
one-third were not sure whether their job was legal.

Pearce man charged after failing to pay for sex
BY STAFF REPORTERS
28 Oct, 2010 10:15 AM
A 47-year-old man from Pearce will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with the sexual assault of a sex worker.
Police will allege that on October 15 the man called the woman and a price was negotiated for sexual services.
On October 21 he arrived at the house with an envelope he said contained the agreed sum of money. After they had sex the woman checked the envelope to find it did not contain money.
The man left, promising to return with the money. She has not seen the man since.
The woman contacted the Sex Workers Outreach Program who urged her to go to the police.
Police enquiries located the man, they arrested and charged him with sexual intercourse without consent and making off without payment.

Prostitution Australien: Infos zum Rotlicht-Milieu in Down Under
So schreibt das sogenannte “Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography“ ( http://www2.ohchr.org/english/law/crc-sale.htm ) (2007) vor, dass Prostitution erst ab dem Alter von 18 Jahren erlaubt ist.
Gesetze bezüglich Prostitution in Australien
Queensland:
New South Wales:

Sexarbeit in Australien
Vielen Dank
Lorena

Beschilderung
Victoria:
Prostitutionsgesetz verlangt öffentlichen Aushang in jedem Bordellzimmer
-amtliche Stigmatisierung-

So it's now law that this sign must be on display in every room in every licensed brothel throughout Victoria despite the fact there is little to no evidence that sexual slavery or human trafficking occurs in these workplaces.
On the other hand, there is no sign telling sex workers that they have rights, that they are entitled to OH&S protections or that their agency and control of their working condition are protected by law.
It's sickeningly clear what the government thinks of us and our work...

Why the Queensland licensing/registration model is not effective
- zu teuer, hohe öffentliche Zuschüsse notwendig
- hoher Verwaltungsaufwand
- Durchsetzung verlangt hohes Polizeiaufkommen

Inspector got free sex from bath house
Mon Mar 7 2011
A council building inspector who admitted to the NSW corruption watchdog that he got free sex from a Sydney bath house says he claimed overtime while doing so.
But Willoughby City Council inspector Edward Karkowski denies the free sex and massages were payment for turning a blind eye to the illegal services on offer at the premises.
Mr Karkowski, the council's only building inspector, on Monday told NSW's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) he regularly received free sexual services over a 12-month period from at least three women at the Oriana Bath House in Chatswood's CBD.
He told the first day of hearings that he was in a relationship with one of the women, Tina.
"That relationship included attending the bath house and receiving sexual services?" counsel assisting the inquiry Kate Williams asked.
"Yes," Mr Karkowski replied.
Asked if Anna was the only person from whom he received sexual services, Mr Karkowski replied "no" and agreed another woman, called Tina, serviced him.
"And, if Tina and Anna were not available, you would receive sexual services from someone else?" Ms Williams asked.
Mr Karkowski admitted he did.
Asked if he paid for the sex, he replied: "No, they didn't charge me".
The development consent the council gave to the bath house in January 2008 specified it would operate as a beauty and massage centre only, and that "staff would be fully dressed, and that there would be no body-to-body massage or sex offered".
Ms Williams said Mr Karkowski approved the development consent and had been given the free services since September 2009 "presumably on the implicit understanding that he will turn a blind eye to the breach of the conditions".
"You must have understood they were anxious for you not to report them?" Ms Williams asked.
"It didn't cross my mind," Mr Karkowski replied.
"I didn't protect them. I just didn't disclose what they were doing."
Mr Karkowski later told the inquiry he believed he was being shown gratitude from management because he had helped them on a development application.
After a phone tap was played to the inquiry, Mr Karkowski admitted that on July 6 last year he claimed overtime between 4pm and 10pm while he was having sex at the bath house.
Mr Karkowski also failed to declare receiving wine and expensive meals from other businesses, ICAC was told.
Some of the lunches were paid for by the owner of the New Shanghai Restaurant, Zhong Juan Chen, who was seeking advice at the time on lodging a development application with the council.
"You knew the reason Mr Chen wanted to have lunch with you was because of your position at the council?" Ms Williams asked.
"We just got along. We are similar ages. We both like fine restaurants," Mr Karkowski replied.
One of the lunches occurred on April 28, 2009 - the same day Mr Karkowski claimed overtime of six hours from his employer.
Mr Karkowski admitted his supervisors weren't aware he was not working when he was having lunch with Mr Chen.
"They were very trusting," he said.
Ms Williams replied: "It was an abuse of trust to be spending working hours at lunch, then claiming overtime".
But Mr Karkowski maintained he "still got the job done".
The hearing, before Commissioner David Ipp, is scheduled to continue for another nine days.

Melbourne Victoria:
Brothels boom in the suburbs

SEX parlours are opening throughout Melbourne in huge numbers - more than 2500 are now registered to operate freely across suburban locations [3,37 Millionen Einwohner (2006)].
Figures obtained from the Victorian Government show 2530 people were registered to offer owner-operated sex services, often doing business out of private homes and small shops
[weniger als 1 Promille Sexworker pro Einwohner].
Industry insiders fear they are dodging licensing requirements by registering as sole traders rather than full-scale brothels, which are monitored more closely.
At least 214 people applied to operate small sex businesses last year.
There are also an estimated 400 illegal brothels currently in Melbourne [16%].
The combination has raised fears the sex industry is not being properly policed.
The Business Licensing Authority - the State Government body responsible for registering the owner-operated sex services - refused Herald Sun requests to list the suburbs where the businesses operate.
Unlike brothels, owner-operated sex businesses making applications do not need to pass background or medical checks.
Australian Adult Entertainment Industry president William Albon said small-scale brothels could be operated by criminal groups and pose health risks to guests.
"The BLA now admits to exempting more than 2500 persons. (The) AAEI think the number is much higher, possibly as high as 7000.
"This is a calamity," Mr Albon said.
"The BLA do not know who these people are, what their background is or how they're trading. There are quite possibly many persons connected with organised crime," he said.
"They might be drug dealers. They could be involved in abuse of the migration program, including the trafficking of women," Mr Albon said.
SIC!]
"They might be engaging in inducing under-age persons into the sex industry."
A government spokeswoman said that while 2530 people were registered to operate small sex shops, there was nothing to indicate that all were still in business.
[Small sex shops] Owners were not allowed to employ fellow prostitutes.

According to government figures, there were 98 legal brothels in Victoria.
There are 11 brothels in South Melbourne, 4 in Dandenong, and 3 in Richmond and Collingwood.
