This report reflects our needs and issues. The development of this project occured under the supervision and direction of Scarlet Alliance with the assistance of social researcher Eva Cox, and the NAPWA advisory position.
It was developed and executed by and on behalf of the sex workers who live with HIV.
We understand our own lives best and how the world sees us. The needs and issues reflected here all come from the people who courageously came forward, identified themselves as HIV positive sex workers, told their stories and shared their views. While views, needs and issues varied between people, there are commonalities between us all. We hope that the stakeholders and policy makers to whom this report is targeted listen to us and take appropriate action to make change, especially where we cannot.
A key issue for all HIV positive sex workers is self protection. Protecting ourselves from the hysteria and over-reaction of people who do not know our lives, who do not understand what the situation is like and who only see the disease and the sex work and not the human being. In order for this protection to be maintained, we ask that others advocate for us, and this report is what we are presenting in order for you all to advocate effectively. ISBN 978-0-646-49555-2

Heilbar ist die Krankheit leider immer noch nicht! Wenn auch mit teurer Chemotherapie die Lebenserwartung inzwischen auf durchschnittlich etwas über 50 Jahre erhöht werden konnte. Ein Leben unter den Nebenwirkung der antiretroviralen Therapie ist dennoch keinem zu wünschen wie auch die sozialen Folgen der Krankheit mit Verarmung und Ausgrenzung nach wie vor riesig sind.
Aber schützen kann mann und frau sich bekanntlich. Und der Schutz ist auch gut gegen die anderen zwar heilbaren aber dennoch gefährlichen Geschlechtskrankheiten. Denn eine solche STD-Erkrankung senkt immer auch den Barriereschutz gegen das AIDS-Virus...

Warum sind Männer Kondom-Muffel?
US National Institute of Health (NIH) finanziert Kondom-Anwenderstudie unter jungen, heterosexuellen Männern bis Mai 2011 mit einer ½ Mio $
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, a branch of the National Institutes of Health, has awarded a $423,500 grant to researchers at The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction www.kinseyInstitute.org (Indiana University).
The Bloomington, Ind., based research team will use the funding to study "barriers to correct condom use," according to a release from the institute.

The first phase of the two-year study called “Barriers to Correct Condom Use” will be a simple Q&A, but doctors say the second phase will plumb uncharted territory.
“The second phase involves a laboratory study, and focuses on penile erection and sensitivity during condom application,” reads the abstract from Drs. Erick Janssen and Stephanie Sanders, both of the Kinsey Institute.

neigen zu Risikoverhalten ohne Kondomgebrauch.
40 % der Männer berichten über Erektionsverlust bei Kondomnutzung.
Männer, die nicht wirklich vertraut mit Kondomen sind, haben beim Gebrauch 3 x häufiger Erektionsprobleme.
Männer, die über Sitz und Gefühlsverminderung von Kondeomen berichten, haben 2 x häufiger Erektionsverlust.
Spielerischer Umgang und größere Außwahl sollte hier weiterhelfen.
Männer die häufiger den Partner wechseln haben großere Probleme.
Vertrauensvolles Sprechen über Kondome mit dem Partner ist wichtig.

Kölner Bordell = keine Kondome mehr beim Sex
In Europas größtem Bordell - dem Pascha in Köln - werden bald beim Sex keine Kondome mehr benutzt. Darauf haben sich angeblich die Prostiturieten geeigigt.
Trotzdem darf der Schutz vor Geschlechtskrankheiten nicht zu kurz kommen.
Als Ersatz für das Gummi benutzen die Frauen nun ein sogenannstes " Frauenkondom " , das vorher von den Prostituierten getestet wurde.
Die neuen Präservative sollen sogar sicherer sein, als die herkömmlichen Kondome.
Nur beim Oralverkehr muss noch auf die alte Variante zurück gegriffen werden.

Soweit ich weiss war das mit dem Femidom im Pascha nur eine sehr kurze Episode. Es hat sich wohl nicht durchgesetzt weil es wenig gefühlsecht ist und nich ganz einfach zu handhaben. Jedenfalls ist der Hinweis darauf schon sehr lange von der Homepage verschwunden.

Neue Studie in den U.S.A.:
UNAIDS and other international health organizations promote [male] circumcision, the cutting away of the foreskin, as an important strategy for reducing the spread of the AIDS virus [in Africa].
CDC is still considering recommending it for groups, including baby boys and high-risk heterosexual men.
80 % der Amerikaner sind beschnitten.
30 % der Männer weltweit.
In Afrika verbreitet sich HIV am stärksten unter Heterosexuellen.
In U.S.A. zumeist unter Schwulen (4 % sind schwul, sie tragen 50 % der Neuinfizierung).
Aber / But:
Circumcision does NOT protect gays from AIDS virus.
Infektionsrate ca. 3.5 percent bei Analverkehr, egal ob beschnitten oder nicht
(4.900 Männer untersucht von Centers for Disease Control www.cdc.gov).

Hinderungsgründe Kondomgebrauch
Es macht keinen Sinn Kondomanwendung per Polizeiverordnung zu erzwingen, wenn man den Menschen nicht Informationen und Mittel zur Überwindung der unterschiedlichen Hinderungsgründe geben kann!
